Three Months

Kira turned three months old today! Unfortunately, we did not get to do much to celebrate during the day as freezing rain was falling outside, leading schools to open two hours late and cancelling our Spanish class. So we spent the morning indoors in our PJ's, staying warm and keeping ourselves entertained.

So what is Kira up to at three months? She continues to give us lots of smiles- she's one of the happiest babies we've ever seen and only cries when she's hungry or tired. She is awake more during the day now, which also means that it's a little harder to count on her sleeping quietly in her carseat through Alex and Ari's activities. Unforunately, she's not sleeping through the night yet...her long stretch of sleep seems to be from 6 p.m. until midnight, which is a nice 6-hour stretch but hardly the stretch Mommy and Daddy would choose if it was up to them! She then wakes up around midnight-1:00 a.m. and again around 4:00 a.m. before getting up for the day around 6:00 or 6:30. Mommy is trying hard not to feed her right away when she wakes up in the middle of the night, but there's only so long she will be soothed by a pacifier before she's in full "feed me!" mode. We (Mommy in particular) are hoping that her schedule soon adjusts to the rest of the family's...three months is a long time for Mommy and Daddy to go on short bursts of two or three hours of sleep at a time.

Other than her sleep schedule, Kira is excelling in all aspects and growing so quickly. She moved into size 2 diapers this week and fits into all of her 3-month clothing. She has excellent head control and is close to being able to roll from her back to her front. She strated laughing in earnest this week (when tickled on her tummy) and coos and "talks" quite a bit. Her hair is growing in very curly, just like her sister's.

Happy three month birthday, Kira!
