Five Months

Lots of milestones the past few days: today Kira got her day in the sun today as she turns five months old! She's now the same age Ari and Alex were when we started this blog.

What is Kira up to at five months? We're still working on the whole solid foods thing; she seems to be getting better at keeping some of the food in her mouth, although most of it still ends up being pushed out by her tongue. We'll keep working on it though, because she does seem to like the concept, at least, of eating solid foods. She eyes Mommy and Daddy's food (and drinks especially) with great envy and we often think she's going to reach out and help herself!

Kira is also starting to sit up on her own. She needs a little help from Mommy or Daddy and the Boppy pillow, but soon she'll be doing it all on her own.

Kira is also doing well on the sleeping front. For the most part, she sleeps through the night from 7 or 7:30 to somewhere between 6 and 7 in the morning. She still gets up occasionally on the early side (between 4-6 a.m.) but those occurrences are happening less and less frequently as time goes by. She seems to be filling up on food before bed time, often drinking as much as 14 ounces in the two hours before bed time! Kira is also a good napper-- she usually takes three naps a day- a short one in the morning, a longer one with Alex and Ari in the early afternoon, and another short one in the late afternoon; although lately she's been taking a longer first nap, which then pushes her second nap to late afternoon and our schedule ends up being something like: Kira's nap, Kira wakes up in time for Ari and Alex's nap; Alex and Ari wake up in time for Kira's nap. This leaves little (if any) time for Mommy to have quiet time when all three kids are napping, but it does allow Mommy and Kira to have one-on-one time while Alex and Ari nap. Some days we get lucky and Kira will still nap with Alex and Ari-- Mommy is trying very hard to keep it that way so she gets at least a little time to get things done during the day!

While the focus was on Kira today, we just had to include one very cute picture of Alex. This morning was rainy, so he proudly donned his fireman's rain coat for school:
