Seven Months

Happy seven month birthday to Kira! It's just amazing how fast time flies.

So what is Kira up to at seven months?
Her biggest accomplishment this past month has been mastering sitting. She still topples from time to time (so Mommy often leaves pillows around her just to cushion her fall) but she can sit for extended periods of time and loves to watch her big brother and sister play around her. Likewise, they love to entertain her and bring her toys (sometimes very little ones she shouldn't be playing with!) and make her laugh. She especially loves it when Ari jumps up and down in front of her.

Kira is eating almost all veggies and fruits now and still seems to favor veggies over fruit (don't think she can truly be Mommy's daughter if that keeps up!) She eats two "meals" of solids a day- lunch and dinner- in addition to her four bottles. Speaking of bottles, just today she started making an attempt to hold her own bottle. This is a little later than Alex and Ari mastered the art of holding their own bottle, but likely because Mommy has spoiled Kira by holding it for her whereas with the twins, they learned early on that if they wanted food and wanted it fast, they needed to hold their own bottle.
Today she also started babbling consonants, like "B's" and "M's." Seems like her seven month birthday has brought on a lot of sudden developments!
Kira is almost ALWAYS happy and smiling. She only cries if she's hungry, tired or has a poopy diaper. Other times she's happy to sit and watch what's going on (she is very alert and takes in everything) or play with her own toys. She's definitely aware of what is going on around her. The other day Daddy walked into the room with a hat on and she looked at him funny, like she was asking, "what is that on your head, Daddy?"

She's a pretty decent sleeper, although not as good (at least as far as memory serves) as her big brother and sister. She is sleeping through the night more and more often, but still gets up some nights to talk to herself around 3:30 in the morning, and again around 6:00 in the morning. However, we don't have to go into her room and she usually goes back to sleep relatively quickly, getting up for the day around 7:00. So we really can't complain.

We had a nice weekend and despite some thunder storms and severe weather yesterday afternoon, have been enjoying nice weather ever since. Good thing for Daddy's friend George and his new wife Emily, as their wedding was yesterday evening on a riverboat. Mommy and Daddy were excited to celebrate with them and Ari, Alex and Kira were excited to spend time with Miri and Opa. Mommy and Daddy were especially excited to get dressed up for a night on the town- something they don't do that often any more!
Today we've been taking it easy and enjoying the sunny weather. We set up Alex and Ari's water table outside and the two of them had a ball dumping water everywhere, including themselves:
Now that June has arrived we suppose it's time to break out more of the outdoor toys- the sprinklers, soccer net, pool, etc. and start enjoying the summer months at last!!
