Rainy Days

The last few weeks can be summed up in one word: soggy! Despite the rain and storms, though, we've had a good start to June.

We actually managed to visit the zoo twice, taking advantage of our zoo membership and the free parking that comes with it! Our latest trip was yesterday when school friend Jessica's mommy called to see if we'd like to take an impromptu trip to the zoo during a short break in the rain. Ari and Alex were so excited to go on a field trip with Jessica, and the kids were delighted to see (and hear!) the lion, turtles, panda bear and other animals. Both trips to the zoo, Alex was almost more interested in the trucks constructing the new elephant house than in the animals!

We also had lots of playdates, including one at the duck lake with friend Rian and his little brother Shane...and of course we got stuck in the book store when a huge thunder storm rolled in and got a little wet getting back to the car, but it was all actually pretty fun. We visited with twin friends (who are actually Kira's age) Madeline and Hannah and played in their back yard during a brief break in the rain. Kira celebrated friend Sydney's birthday at her party at playgroup this week and we had a family playdate with friends Izzy and Sammy and their parents and Oscar, Henry and Ruby and their mommy.
Daddy and the kids enjoyed a Daddy weekend while Mommy and her friends had a fun girls' weekend. The daddies even got organized enough to have a "dads and kids" playdate while the moms were having a nice dinner. The weekend included a boat tour of Baltimore, pedicures, shopping and best of all, for Mommy, trapeze school! A great weekend was had by all, and Mommy was very grateful to Daddy for taking over so she could enjoy such a fun weekend. This week was the last full week of school, so today the kids in Ari and Alex's class treated the parents to a special breakfast. Mommy and Kira joined the class for the celebration, and Mommy was taken aback at how well Kira fit into the class- she could have been another one of the students, and even sat with the class at the table for the snack and played in the classroom with Ari and Alex and their classmates. Kira is growing up so quickly- she even insists on sitting on the potty now like her big brother and sister!!

We are hoping that things dry out so we can get back to enjoying the pool and other outdoor activities that will keep us busy this summer. There are only two more days left of school for Ari and Alex and then they will be done with their "2's" year of nursery school and it will be time for a fun summer break that will include swim lessons, gymnastics class and camp!
