First Smiles

At just a little more than five weeks old, Kira is giving us her first (intentional, not just gassy!) smiles. What a joy!
Last night, much to Alex and Arielle's delight, Nana and Poppy Jack came over to celebrate the fourth night of Hanukkah with us.
They came bearing gifts for everyone, including a neat air-hockey-like soccer game that we were sure would keep Alex and Ari (and Mommy and Daddy!) entertained for hours...until we tried it out and Alex decided that the loud noise was a little too much for him. Upon seeing Alex get upset, Ari stepped up to her big sister role and gave him a reassuring hug (unprompted, we should add):

Today Aunt Lori, Uncle Sam and Ozzie came bearing more gifts- a neat remote-controlled bus for Alex and a purse (complete with toy cell phone, lipstick, mirror and keys) for Arielle. They were perfect gifts and both kids have been carrying their new toys around all afternoon and evening. Kira got a snuggly winter outfit that will certainly keep her warm and toasty in the cold months to come.

Later in the afternoon we went to a Hanukkah open house hosted by the parents of Alex and Ari's friends Isabella and Samantha. Alex was very excited about the party (another new word of his, along with "money," "Hanukkah," and "tickle," the new favorite words of the week) and both older kids had a lot of fun playing with all of the other kids (mostly twins like them!) in Izzy and Sammy's fun playroom. Here are Alex and Sammy playing around:
The fun didn't end after we left the party. Tonight we finally gave Alex and Ari their big Hanukkah gift, a series of tents and tunnels for our own playroom. Ari jumped right in and explored the new toy, while Alex hung back a little to assess the situation:
A fun weekend so far, and it's only half way over!

Awww. the first smiles! That is the best feeling ever. I love the picture of Ari hugging Alex because he was upset. What a good sister. I am sure they will love their new tunnel. It looks like something the girls would have a blast in too.

Have a great week!
