Full Steam Ahead

It seems that as the summer draws to a close and September and the school year approach, our calendar is quickly filling up with a somewhat overwhelming amount of things (all fun!) going on. There never seems to be enough time in a day to get our whole "to do" list done.

This weekend started off calm enough, and on Saturday after everyone seemed to be over their bug, Mommy took Alex and Ari to meet up with Aunt Lori for an afternoon of shopping while Daddy and Kira hung out at home. Before shopping, we fueled up with ice cream and chocolate milk shakes. Ari and Alex were in heaven!
We stopped into Nieman Marcus' kids department where Alex's eyes grew as big as saucers when we got off the elevator and he saw this:

Alex always tells us (to Mommy's dismay) that he wants to "ride a motorcycle" so Saturday he got his wish. Mommy was just happy when Alex didn't ask Mommy to "buy" it with her "money."

Sunday things turned busy. In the morning, Mommy took Alex and Ari to friend Sam's second birthday party at our old gym. Alex and Ari were excited to see Sam and all of their other neighborhood friends (Alex was particularly happy that friend Riley was back from camp for the occasion, as he happily exclaimed "Riley's back!" when she walked in, and Ari was bashful but clearly happy to see boyfriend Andrew) and to be back in their old 'digs. They were equally excited about cake- probably one of the only things Ari, our increasingly picky eater, ate all day.

Later on Sunday while Mommy hosted a planning retreat for our Parents of Multiples Club, Daddy took the kids to the park and to Miri and Opa's house for dinner. When they got home, Alex and Ari didn't want to go to bed; instead they wanted to come downstairs to Mommy's meeting to snag some of the cookies and brownies. Alex refused to let Daddy put him to bed, so he hung out with Mommy and her friends WAY past his bed time, leading to a very cranky Alex!

This morning we had a bunch of friends over for a playdate, including our "concert friends" and some twin friends for Kira. Kira was a bit surprised to see lots of babies her age and was curious to see how one of them was crawling.
It was lots of fun to have all our friends here and we're looking forward to getting together with everyone more later this month!
