Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today we celebrated Daddy's birthday with a gorgeous day (70 degrees, dry, sunny) and a host of fun activities. First, Daddy coached his soccer team to their second win of the season. After the game and lunch, we all headed out to our local fire department's annual open house. Alex and Ari were captivated by the fire trucks (they make the appropriate noises when they see fire trucks- "ayi, ayi, ayi") and all of the various rescue equipment and uniforms. They also got to see (and touch!!) live reptiles on display, including turtles and snakes. It was a beautiful day to be outside and fun to see the fire trucks and department up close:
This evening we celebrated with a birthday dinner at Cici's Pizza. Not exactly your gourmet five-star restaurant, but family friendly and apparently a new favorite of Alex and Ari's: they ate better than we've ever seen them eat. They both ate at least two whole slices of pizza (no little pieces for these guys- they wanted to tackle the whole slice by themselves! And spinach topping, nonetheless) and copious amounts of dessert (brownies and apple 'pizza'). Here is the mess to prove it:

After dinner we spent a good half hour working off our big dinner at the playground, where Alex kissed neighbor (and older woman at 2 1/2 years old) Sophie...guess he's playing the field these days and he and Ivy aren't exclusive. Nana and Poppy got back from their trip to Florida and came to meet us on the playground before Alex and Ari had their baths and headed to bed after a long, productive day.

Daddy says he had a perfect birthday doing what he loves best, so we're glad that the day was a success!
