Labor Day Weekend

Even though it marks the end of summer, we are happy it's almost Labor Day because that means an extra long weekend! It seems like just yesterday we were watching the school bus leave the bus stop (one of Alex and Ari's favorite morning activities) on the last day of school, but this week we got to start up our morning tradition again as the kids in our area headed back to public school. This meant a trip to the tot lot every morning, where Alex and Ari were fascinated with the older kids (including friend Emily who is starting kindergarten!) and eagerly anticipated the arrival of the bus every morning. Of course, when it did arrive, Alex would get very upset because all of the kids left the playground.

On Thursday Alex and Ari had a glimpse of their own school during an Open House. They especially liked the cookies and donut holes they had for snack while we were there!

Today we went to the neighborhood pool for the annual "free Italian Ice" event. While we didn't go for a swim, we did get four cups of yummy ice- mango, orange, strawberry lemon, and cherry.

After mingling with our neighbors and friends, we took a family visit to the tot lot. Ari has made a lot of progress with her walking this week, and she's now choosing to walk places on her own rather than crawl. She enjoyed practicing her new skill on the playground today.

Tonight Mommy and Daddy had a "date night" with their friends (also parents to twins!) so Miri and Opa came over to babysit for Alex and Ari. We had a very good report when we got home from dinner- the kids had a great time playing with their grandparents, and even though they were a little apprehensive about being bathed by someone other than Mommy and Daddy, otherwise they were very content to have a night on their own without their parents.
We guess Mommy and Daddy are going to have to start having more date nights so that Alex and Ari have a good excuse to have their grandparents all to themselves for an evening!
