Happy Birthday Poppy!

In addition to being Labor Day, yesterday was Poppy Jack's birthday! We celebrated with dinner at a local Mexican restaurant (the same one we went to for Mommy and Daddy's wedding anniversary). Alex and Ari enjoyed people-watching, eating yummy food and spending time with Nana, Poppy Jack, Aunt Lori and Uncle Sam. They were intrigued- but a little overwhelmed- with the restaurant's signature birthday celebration...singing and clapping waiters and a big sombrero for Poppy Jack:
We fully enjoyed the long weekend and spent much of it relaxing around the house and hanging out in the neighborhood with our friends. On Sunday morning we had brunch at our friends'/back yard neighbors' house. Alex and Ari even had their own special table with their friends Emily and Justin:We also visited our other friends/neighbors so that Mommy could test drive their Honda Odyssey, as we figured out this weekend that three car seats will NOT fit across the back row of our current SUV. Yes, as much as Mommy has resisted the "call of the minivan," it turns out that the addition of a third child is going to force her into minivan-driving, soccer mom status. Luckily she liked how it drove, and enjoyed catching up with her friend Stephanie during the test drive while the daddies stayed home with the kids, who were enjoying a whole new playroom and set of toys at their friends' house.

This weekend we were reminded how much we love our neighborhood and how lucky we are to have such wonderful friends all within walking distance of our house. It truly is going to be a great place for Alex and Ari (and their new sibling) to grow up with all of their friends.
