The First 24 Hours

So we've made it through the first 24 hours at home as a family of five and we're all doing well so far. Alex and Ari love the new baby and, for the most part, don't bother her too much. They know to make "nice" to the baby but are still learning not to jump all over her toys (the swing, Pack N Play, etc.) especially while she's in there.

Kira is a typical newborn, sleeping most of the time and waking just to eat or look around for a few minutes. She seems to have her days and nights confused just a bit, and was up about every 2.5 hours to eat last night. Of course, as soon as it was light outside she slept soundly and had to be roused for feedings! She spends most of the day sleeping but even today she's already more alert, taking in her new surroundings and sizing up her siblings.

This morning Daddy took Alex and Ari to their My Gym class for the first time, and reports are that they were actually less clingy than they are when Mommy takes them, allowing the teachers to play with them and help Daddy out a bit. Mommy stayed home with Kira and Nana to organize Kira's room (now that we know she's a girl, all of Ari's old clothes can come out and Alex's can go back into storage!)

After lunch (and naps for Alex, Ari, Kira and Mommy), we took a family trip to the tot lot with Kira in the Baby Bjorn, bundled up in a hat and warm outfit. It was a beautiful day to enjoy our newly-expanded family.

Here are some more pictures- eventually we'll get them organized, but for now we'll just put a few up at a time:

Love the picture of Daddy with his 3 babies. There is nothing like a Daddy!

Glad the first 24 hours have been a success.
